About SVHJ

The Soundview Program

Those are the core tenets of the Soundview Hunter Jumper program. Riders that wear the Soundview colors have the integrity to reach their goals in an honest and moral way. They show respect to their horses, to their trainers, and to other riders. They know that good riding comes second to good horsemanship. The Soundview program strives to develop riders that prioritize these values!

Head Trainer Kelsey Powell-Huber

Soundview’s founder and head trainer, Kelsey Powell-Huber, began riding at the age of 4. By the age of 6, Kelsey knew her passion lay in the hunter/jumper world.

As a junior Kelsey rode at Archway Equestrian. Kelsey had a successful career in the ponies, junior hunters and equitation, and the jumper ring. Kelsey found her passion for training during her time as a working student at Emerald Equestrian. She became a professional at nineteen.  She worked for Denise Youell of Farpoint Farm, where she learned an immense amount about training different types of horse and honed her teaching skills. With Denise’s guidance Kelsey brought along her own young horse, Lounaro Z.

Kelsey took a short break from horses to raise her family before returning to the show ring. In August 2017 she took the leap and started the Soundview Hunter Jumpers program!
